FITWCC is a multicultural ministry that serves as a “spiritual oasis” in the Mojave Desert of Twentynine Palms, CA. FITWCC is located in a military community with a constant turnover of people. As the military reassigns members who attend FITWCC, “ambassadors of faith” are sent coast-to-coast, and worldwide. Dr. K. Brewer pastors FITWCC.
Dr. K. Brewer is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. While attending Ashland University (AU), Ashland, Ohio he joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Officer Commissioning Program and began a series of turning points in his life. In 1976, he graduated from AU and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the USMCR.
Between the years of 1976 through 1997, Dr. Brewer wore the ranks of Second Lieutenant through Lieutenant Colonel. During his overseas tour in Okinawa, Japan (1979), Dr. Brewer rededicated himself to God and submitted to God’s calling (which he had been aware of since age eight) to minister the gospel. In June of 1980, Dr. Brewer began to fulfill his commission to teach people to “Develop A Personal Relationship With God.”
Dr. Brewer has traveled from the East to the West coast, Japan and the United Kingdom. As God ordered each step, He broadened Dr. Brewer’s biblical knowledge resulting in him being ordained by four different ministries.
In March of 1985 (while on active duty), Dr. Brewer began part-time pastoring at Faith In The Word Christian Center (FITWCC). On December 31, 1988, (at the rank of Major) he resigned from active duty in the USMC. On January 1, 1989, Dr. Brewer became FITWCC’s “full-time” pastor.
FITWCC’s emphases is the importance of the personal relationship with God, allowing one to ‘Walk in Love, Live by Faith, and Share the Word.” FITWCC believes that they are called to “Shape a Community with God.” Since FITWCC has many military members, and their pastor is a retired military officer, they are very sensitive to the military members plight, and concentrate on preparing the military family for separation(s), and the need to carry God with them every where they go (even to a foxhole). |
