Mark Canfield serves as the Lead Pastor of Pinellas Community Church here in St. Petersburg, Florida. He and his wife Lori have four children: Jonathan, Jensyn, Josalyn and Jacob. Mark began his pastoral ministry career in 1990, at the age of 27 as a youth pastor. He joined the PCC staff in 1994 and after enjoying a very successful season as a youth pastor, moved into the role of Executive Pastor. There his responsibilities included overseeing the pastoral staff and implementing several vital ministry groups that have enhanced the growth and relational health of our church. Mark has been gifted with the ability to recognized and cultivate the gifts and talents that God has placed in others. This has helped PCC to become a church that believes in everyone working together to accomplish our goals and God's purposes…as one TEAM! God has given Mark the opportunities to share his gifts with others as a conference presenter and guest speaker at various events. His ability to communicate biblical principles is always practical, "down to earth" and relevant, culturally and socially to the world we live in. Although his responsibilities as Lead Pastor occupy the majority of his time, occasionally he finds the time to engage in one of his biggest passions…singing.
THE PCC Story:
Pinellas Community Church was founded by Pastor David Melendez in the fall of 1992. He and his wife, Gina, began the church in their home and by it’s fourth anniversary, the church grew to over 500 people in average attendance. 60% of PCC’s attendees are first generation believers. All of this took place in rented space at the Hosanna Hotel on 34th Street South. PCC purchased property in the spring of 1996 with the hopes of breaking ground in 1998. After an extensive cost analysis in the fall of 1997, it was determined that ground breaking would have to be delayed for another year. This created concern because the church's lease of hotel space was ending in 1998 and the church had already outgrown the facility. The morning following the cost analysis meeting, David Melendez received a telephone call from a local pastor whom he had never met. Rev. Bob Webel from Maximo Heights Baptist Church had called and left a message, asking for a call back. In the subsequent conversation, Rev. Webel said he and his congregation felt God leading them to give their land and facility to PCC, and simply asked "Are you interested?" Well, the rest is history! PCC now worships in this structure as the result of the faith and generosity of the former Maximo Heights Baptist Church family. The entire facility is debt-free! Since moving onto the campus in January ‘98, the PCC family has grown dramatically in average attendance. With this continued growth in mind, plans are underway for a future worship center and educational facility on the undeveloped property to the west of the existing structure. We invite you and your family to become an active part of what God is doing here at Pinellas Community Church! |
