Discipleship – Part I

Disciple vs. Believer = A Disciple is a person who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrine of another. (As Christians, we spread the doctrine of Jesus Christ.)

Believer = One who has accepted the Gospel of Jesus, but who has not necessarily gone on to make Disciples; as Jesus instructed in the Great Commission.

Everything that God has graced us with – prosperity, blessings, etc. is designed to attract prospective disciples – Gentile bait!

It is possible to do “church work” and forget “the work of the Church”.

As the Pastor of Spirit Of Faith, God has shown me that we have good church members, but not many disciples; and that will change! Jesus’ last command will be and now is our last concern. That is why for this house, I have proclaimed 2004 “The Year of Discipleship”.

Discipleship - Part II:

Galatians 6:7 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

You may be wondering what Galatians 6:7 has to with discipleship, but if you look at what it says carefully, you will see that it has everything to do with discipleship. The Bible says, “God is not mocked.” In other words He will not be put to shame or made a fool of. It goes on to say, “whatsoever a man soweth, that (the very thing he sows) shall he also reap."

God considers Himself to be a partaker of this law of sowing and reaping. Whatsoever God sows, He fully expects to reap. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God sowed His Son, He expects to reap sons and that’s where you and I come in. We are part of God’s harvest and now He has commissioned us to GO and make disciples (sons) of other men and women.

The Bible says, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” Matt. 9:37

We don’t want that to be said of us here at Spirit of Faith Christian Center. We want to be the ones who fulfill God’s Great Commission. God is looking for men and women to make up the hedge and stand in the gap…look no further God…here we are!
