PROMOTING THE LEGACY OF LIFE
By Minister Brenda Daniel
Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, that I
might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest
answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
--Proverbs 22:20-21
As believers, we must not neglect the cause of Christ. It should be the priority
for our existence. We were created for Him, for fellowship, and for advancement
of the kingdom of God. In John 14:12, Jesus said about those who would believe
in Him, that they would do even greater works than He did after He was gone. I
am persuaded that we as Christians, as Christ representatives in the earth, as
the Church, were never designed to take on a occupation of it's own…. We must
consciously be connected to and occupied with His cause.
I am always amazed, as I travel around the world, to think that I am a carrier
of the only thing existing in heaven or earth that can change the condition of
a man's heart and soul. The Bible says that we, the Church, carry this valuable
treasure in earthen vessels. The devastation and destitution of sin has
entrapped people, and they are living a "lifeless" life, just as we once were.
We, the Church, have the true life that they need, and Romans 10:13-15 makes
this very clear:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall
they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear
without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent?
Does this mean that all Christians should pack up their bags and head for the
mission field? No; only if God has called them to do that. In the early Church
at Jerusalem, we see that some stayed on the home front and others had the
assignment to go out. However, unlike those of the early Church, many followers
of Christ today, particularly those who are on the home front, seem to have
lost their focus. They do not seek that which is important to God but, rather,
that which is important to advance and promote themselves.
Remember He said to let your light so shine, so that wherever you are,
others would see your good works and glorify the Father in heaven. You
don't have to go on the mission field to do that. In fact, the mission field
can be right where you are in life, doing whatever it is that you do. But if
you are called to go, then GO! There is someone dying because they can't see,
and your light can lead them out of darkness.
